  7. Hi. Because some people were having problems with the SubsDisk extractor there
  8. are now two methods for extracting your subsdisk to floppy:

  11. Whichever you choose to use, read the instructions carefully and everything
  12. should go fine.

  15. OK. Some of you have had problems with the SubsDisk extractor that we
  16. previously ran on the AFCDs. Here's the solution:
  17.      @{b}1.@{ub} Make sure that you have double-clicked on the Start Me script.
  18.      @{b}2.@{ub} Open a shell window. If you booted from this CD you can do it
  19.     by hitting <LeftAmiga>-<Esc>...
  20.      @{b}3.@{ub} Type the following statement:
  21.     @{b}cd afcd8:CoverDisks/SubsDisk@{ub}
  22.      @{b}4.@{ub} Now type the following:
  23.     @{b}dms write subs.dms to @{ub}@{i}df0:@{ui}@{b} decrypt@{ub} @{i}XXXXXXX@{ui}
  24.     You can change @{i}df0:@{ui} to another floppy drive if you prefer and the @{i}XXXXXXX@{ui}
  25.     should be replaced with the password that you'll find in BackStage.
  26.      @{b}5.@{ub} You'll be asked to insert a disk in the appropriate drive and then
  27.     hit return. Do so.
  28.      @{b}6.@{ub} After about a minute, you'll have a subs disk extracted to floppy.
  29.      @{b}7.@{ub} This same method works perfectly for the other CDs since
  30.     AFCD4 so you can use it for those subs disks too if you wish.
  31. (If you have installed PowerSnap, you can copy the text from this file and
  32. paste it directly into the shell to ensure that no typos get through. Because
  33. PowerSnap doesn't cope very well with italics, you'll have to replace the
  34. "df0:" and "XXXXXXX" bits, but then you would have to do that anyway. Give it a
  35. go...)

  38.                   @{b}HOW TO USE THE AFCD SUBSDISK EXTRACTOR

  40. The extractor is still at an early stage in its development at the moment so
  41. you might find it a bit temperamental if you don't follow these instructions...
  42.      @{b}1.@{ub} Double click on the "AFxxSubsDisk" icon. This will bring up a window
  43.     with a text box in it.
  44.      @{b}2.@{ub} Have a disk ready. It must be write enabled, but the extractor
  45.     doesn't care whether it is formatted or not.
  46.      @{b}3.@{ub} Insert the disk in df0:
  47.      @{b}4.@{ub} Type the password into the text field in the extractor's window and
  48.     hit return.
  49.      @{b}5.@{ub} If you have entered the right password, the drive light will come on
  50.     and stay on for about a minute (it might flicker, it depends on your
  51.     drive).
  52.      @{b}6.@{ub} If you entered the wrong password, the drive light will come on for
  53.     a maximum of ten seconds, then go out again. No other warning will be
  54.     given. You can try entering the password again, making sure you are
  55.     spelling the password correctly and that the capitalisation of the
  56.     password is correct.
  57. The only problems arise when you don't follow the order given here. If all else
  58. fails, you can always reboot...
